U15 Girlz place sixth in Concacaf tourney
The U15 Reggae Girlz ended their CONCACAF Girls U15 Championship campaign with one win and three losses to finish third in Group A of League A action, and sixth overall.
Jamaica played their final game of the tournament in the fifth-place play-off fixture against Honduras, who had finished third in Group B.
However, the Girlz lost 4-0 to the Hondurans and finished sixth overall in the tournament.
In group play, Jamaica were drawn alongside the United States, Costa Rica and Haiti.
They got their solitary win of the tournament against their Caribbean neighbours Haiti, securing that victory in their second group fixture, by a 2-1 margin.
Holmwood Technical's Jamara Jones scored the opening goal for Jamaica in the fifth minute of play before Ricquanna Richards of Excelsior High doubled the lead in the 24th minute.
Haiti would pull one back just at the brink of half-time through a strike from Kerdina Lamour.
Apart from that win, it was a very tough experience for the Jamaican youngsters. In their opening game, the Girlz were drubbed 11-nil y the United States.
The USA ended the first half nine goals to the good, with Deus Stanislaus bagging a hat-trick on their way to victory.
The Girlz conceded 51 shots overall in the contest and would threaten the American goal twice in return, with both shots on target.
Jamaica played their third and final game of the group against Costa Rica, suffering a 4-0 defeat.
Veronica Solano opened the scoring in the first half, before a second half blitz sealed the win for the Central Americans with Nubia Medina, Isska Chaverri and Lucia Paniagua all adding their names to the scoresheet.
Jamaica finished the group in third place with three points, with USA atop the standing with nine points from three wins and Costa Rica placed second with six points. Haiti were rooted at the foot of the table without a point.
