JABBFA gets Supreme Ventures, JOA boost
KINGSTON:
Bodybuilding and fitness enthusiasts appear set for bigger opportunities and exposure amid sponsorship of the Jamaica Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (JABBFA)'s Supreme Ventures Jamaica Invitational Bodybuilding Championships.
The event is being staged by JABBFA, in collaboration with the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) and Supreme Ventures Group and is set to take place on Saturday, November 23, at the Courtleigh Auditorium in Kingston.
For years, JABBFA has faced difficulties in securing the resources needed to support athletes in international competitions, thus limited funding and sponsorship opportunities have held back some of Jamaica's most promising talents, the JABBFA noted.
This groundbreaking event, according to key partners, marks a fresh chapter, bringing Jamaica closer to the global bodybuilding scene by creating a dedicated platform for local athletes to compete and grow.
"This initiative is a testament to our commitment to advancing bodybuilding in Jamaica," said Audrey Allwood, president of JABBFA. "The Supreme Ventures Jamaica Invitational will help us develop new talent and inspire athletes across the country to reach their full potential."
The Supreme Ventures Jamaica Invitational features five categories: Bodybuilding, Classic Bodybuilding, Men's Physique, Women's Bikini Fitness, and Women's Bikini Wellness and has more than $500,000 in prize money, the largest in Jamaica's bodybuilding history.
While this year's event is an amateur competition, it aims to evolve into a Pro Qualifier in the coming years, opening doors for Jamaican athletes to compete professionally.
"Our athletes are hungry for a platform that showcases their skills and dedication. Thanks to Supreme Ventures and the JOA, we're making this a reality," Allwood continued.
"This is just the beginning of a broader movement to position Jamaica as a key player in Caribbean bodybuilding."
The Supreme Ventures Jamaica Invitational has already sparked interest beyond Jamaica's borders, with athletes from the Caribbean, the United States and Europe set to attend. This cross-border participation will amplify the event's impact, positioning it as a premier gathering for bodybuilding talent in the region.
Supreme Ventures expressed that it is excited to be part of this event and invites fans and supporters to come witness this landmark moment for bodybuilding in Jamaica, stating that with each lift, pose, and flex, "our athletes will be one step closer" to realising their dreams of competing on the world stage.
