Arnett Gardens FC defeated Harbour View FC 1-0 at the Harbour View Mini Stadium to move within four points of league leaders Mount Pleasant Football Academy in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) football competition yesterday.

Jaheim Thomas scored the game's only goal, netting with a lovely strike from just outside the area.

Thomas took the ball beautifully on his chest and turned in one motion, on the right of the box, before he cut across a defender and hit a precise shot into the far post.

Harbour View were undaunted after going behind, and created numerous chances, with Timar Lewis missing three good opportunities, as well as Colorado Murray.

Harbour View's coach Damion Stewart said it's the same old song and they must start taking their chances.

"It wasn't a bad performance but it has been my story that I have been crying over the last few games; unlucky! We need to finish our chances. We created six to seven chances and didn't make use of them. It's a result-oriented game and, if you don't score, you don't win," he said.

His counterpart, Arnett's Xavier Gilbert, said their performance was nothing to brag about, but credited his team for taking all three points.

"The conditions didn't allow us to play. It was tough. It is a small field, vry intimate. A good atmosphere to play in, but we were never in control of the game and there were a lot of things we could have done differently and should have done differently. But, nevertheless, we manage to get three points and that is a plus," he commented.

Arnett moved to 51 points, four behind Mount Pleasant on 55 and six in front of Montego Bay United in third on 45.

Harbour View stayed 12th on 19 points, one point and one place outside the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Waterhouse FC's place in the top six is under real threat after they succumbed 1-0 loss to the resurgent Dunbeholden FC at Dunbeholden Complex.

Former Waterhouse midfielder Damion Binns netted the only goal of the game, two minutes from time, as ninth-place Dunbeholden moved within two points of eighth-place Tivoli and four adrift seventh-place Racing United.

Waterhouse remain in sixth with 34 points, but only four points ahead of Racing.

In the Portmore derby at Ferdi Neita Park, Cardel Benbow gave Portmore United a 30th-minute lead over Racing United. But Nickyle Ellis denied them all three points with a last-minute strike for a 1-1 draw.

Racing have 20 points, 10 behind Portmore in fifth.

It was a similar story in the Clarendon derby, where Vere Phoenix took a 14th-minute lead through Denzil McKenzie. But veteran midfielder Andrew Vanzie salvaged a point for Chapelton Maroons with an added-time goal.

Chapelton remained 11th on 22 points, while Vere stayed second from bottom on 19 points.

Meanwhile, defending champions Cavalier turned back Molynes 3-0 with second-half goals from Dwayne Atkinson, Justin Dunn and Richard King.

Cavalier moved up to fourth on 41 points after Portmore drew and slipped to fifth. Molynes are 10th on 23 points.
