Busby to field experimental squad for Peru friendly
Having won their first international friendly against Peru 2-0 on Sunday, Reggae Girlz head coach Hubert Busby Jr will be more experimental with his squad selection as they take on the South Americans in their second meeting today.
The Reggae Girlz will face Peru at the Miguel Grau Stadium in Lima with the match set to kick off at 4 p.m.
With one win already under his belt, Busby will be incorporating more of the squad's younger players when they take to the field this time around.
"I think you can definitely expect to see a lot of changes in the squad and possibly some tweaks to way we play formation wise based on the personnel that we'd want to implement. Again, it's really about giving a lot of these young players an opportunity in terms of what it looks like in terms of international football," he explained in his pre-match interview.
"Overall, like we've kind of alluded to, everyone is going to get a chance to have some minutes during the next game so we're really excited about that and we're really excited to see how some of these players step up."
While Busby is ready to give his inexperienced players a chance to stake their claim in the team, he believes the presence of experienced players is also vital.
For the Reggae Girlz boss, the key is to find that perfect blend of youth and experience to ensure the team performs at their best.
"What we have to be very cautious about as well is that you don't throw too many young players in all at once. They need some steady hands around them to kind of get through the difficult moments when we are suffering and things aren't going our way," Busby said.
"Our objective doesn't change. Our objective is to go out there tomorrow again, with a good performance and looking to win the match."
Busby is hoping that with a win, the programme will move to four wins in a row and carry their good form as they look towards the FIFA Women's 2027 FIFA World Cup qualifying cycle.
