Defending champions ‘ready’ to chase 11th title – Dyke
Edwin Allen High School's girls will be seeking their second consecutive title and 11th overall when the ISSA GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships get under way today at the National Stadium.
Head coach of Edwin Allen, Michael Dyke, is confident of another victory.
"Champs is here, so it's now or never for the Edwin Allen girls. They are well prepared, in high spirits, and ready to go," said an upbeat Dyke.
"We are expecting keen competition from our opponents, but I believe the girls have matured significantly over the past few years, especially in the weeks leading up to the championships, and they are anxiously awaiting the start to show what they can do."
Dyke stated that he has a strong and rounded team.
"We are very strong across the board, especially in the hurdles events, in which we have made tremendous strides. Our sprint and middle distances remain solid as usual, and we also expect good results in the field events," he continued, emphasising that success will require a total team effort.
Dyke also expressed gratitude to his staff for their dedication.
"I would like to thank my coaching staff for the excellent job in preparing the team for the championships. Special thanks as well to the principal, sponsors, and other support staff who have stood by us through thick and thin. Their contributions have played significant roles as we go for title number 11."
