Kelly sizzles with Class Three 100m record
Jamaica College's (JC) Kai Kelly produced a record with a sizzling run in the Class Three boys' 100 metres final, clocking a personal best 10.60 seconds on Wednesday at the 2025 ISSA GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships inside the National Stadium.
In a thrilling race, Kelly held off the challenge of St Jago High's Jevaney Findlay, the pre-race favourite, who clocked a personal best 10.67 for second. Both athletes bettered the previous record of 10.69 seconds, which was set by former JC athlete Christopher Scott in 2019.
Rajaun Romelly of St Jago placed third with a personal best 10.87 seconds.
In the Class Two final, Michael Graham of Excelsior High stormed to a personal best of 10.46 seconds while finishing ahead of Jaydon Collins of Holmwood Technical (10.54) and Byron Walker of Calabar High, who placed third in 10.65.
After clocking a personal best 10.06 seconds in his semi-final, Wolmer's Boys' Gary Card, who appeared to experience some discomfort during the final, won the boys' Class One event in 10.28. Tyreece Foreman of St George's College finished second in 10.29 seconds, while Malike Nugent of Excelsior High took third in 10.35.
In the Girls' Class Four 100m, pre-race favourite Adrianne Pine of Edwin Allen High suffered a hamstring injury in her semi-final, clearing the way for Holmwood Technical's Adalia Simpson to take the title in 12.13 seconds. Dantae Bartley of Vere Technical finished second in 12.35, with Dehjanae Stephenson of St. Mary Technical third in 12.39.
Shannia Campbell of St Jago High won the girls' Class Three 100m final in 11.62 seconds ahead of Shayon Smith of St Mary High and Rihanna Scott of Ferncourt High, who both clocked 11.82.
Shanoya Douglas of Muschett High dominated the girls' Class Two 100m final, winning in 11.32 seconds. Natrece East of Wolmer's secured second in 11.59.
In the girls' Class One final, Sabrina Dockery of Lacovia High, ran a personal best 11.08 seconds to take the title.
