Institute of Sports Portland Primary Schools football champions Seaside Primary rejoice in their triumph. Seaside defeated defending champions Port Antonio Primary 1-0 in the second leg final on Friday, January 23, for a 2-0 aggregate win.

Seaside Primary School dethroned Port Antonio Primary to win the Insports Portland Primary Schools football title. Seaforth secured a 1-0 win in Friday's second leg final at Port Antonio Primary School, for a 2-0 aggregate win.

Seaside scored by way of an an own goal, to consolidate their position over the parish's dominant primary school football team.

In the first leg, Quan Clarke's cracking strike gave Seaside the advantage and team manager Ryan Burke, who expressed confidence ahead of the second leg, said it was good to have the trophy back on the east side of the parish, after the west Portland based Port Antonio monopolised the trophy for the last five years.

"It's a very good feeling to finally have the trophy again in the east. Port Antonio have been winning it over the years, so it's good to have the trophy again at Seaside," Burke said.

"It's been a long while since we held the trophy, from 2019. We knew it was going to be a tough game. The first leg we defeated them 1-0, so we went into the second leg with one hand on the trophy. But we planned for it and went there and executed the game plan and came out victorious," he added.

Principal of Seaside Primary, Adli Lewis, said they were looking forward to winning for quite some time.

"It was long in the making. We have a programme that allows the boys to train and prepare adequately for the season and because of our past students, donors and community support that is possible," Lewis said.

"Seaside Primary have always been in the top four. Last year we went to the round of 16 and it's a very experienced team, so it was long in the making," he commented.

Norwich were third in the football competition and Manchioneal fourth

Seaside's Clarke was named the competition Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Port Antonio's Sakina King the female MVP.

In the Insports Primary Schools' netball final, Buff Bay Primary emerged 16-8 winners over Reach Primary.

Last year's winners Seaside were third in the netball competition, while Port Antonio ended fourth.
