Giark ‘happy’ to collab with childhood friend

November 01, 2019

Jamaican singer Giark has released the single ' So Happy' with personal friend and creative collaborator Lamar 'LMR Pro' Reynolds.

LMR admits anything can happen when he gets started in the studio.

"I create music based on the artiste, and I consider myself a self-taught musician, with no formal training," he said.

LMR, who has produced for artistes like Kranium, Danielle D.I. and Spragga Benz, said he grew up with Giark, and they are childhood friends.

"We attended Holy Childhood Prep together from grade one to six. Later on down the road, he was transferred to my high school, so we reconnected at that point. I don't see him [Giark] as the son of (veteran producer) Bobby Digital. I recognise him as his own entity and talent all together," he said.

Giark recalled that LMR was the "kid with all the video games".

"During class parties, you could depend on him to bring in his game console, while I would be responsible for bringing in the TV to play. That's one of the main things I remember about my childhood friend, from dem time til now," he said.

While holding a vibe in the studio, Giark said that there is never any pressure to rush in a session with LMR.

"Out of laughter great ideas are produced," he said. "When working on So Happy, we spent hours fine-tuning it before LMR was satisfied. That same night, LMR had to catch a flight and I dropped him to the airport around midnight. It was well worth hearing him say 'This is the song, it's complete'. Always a good vibe," he said.

The music video for So Happy was directed by Robert Harriott of Krusha Visuals and edited by LMR.

Giark is featured alongside co-star Shanique Marie, which depicts a lovely adventure across the countryside for the two of them.
