Cashtro courts sweet success with ‘Sugar Cane’
Entertainer Ricardo 'Cashtro' Weir says his new song, ' Sugar Cane', is the breakthrough he has been waiting for to propel his music career.
"I have done five other songs on various topics, but this new track has all the positive lyrics on point. I know that we are going to have tough times, so this is the right track,'' Cashtro said.
He said he wrote the song after researching how relevant sugar cane is as a plant, plus the holistic value it has.
"The lyrics just come naturally and I started to write. The product is very good and it forms part of history. We need all the sweet lyrics that we can get," Cashtro said of the single, which is out now on all platforms.
The former Jonathan Grant High School student said that dedication has dictated his musical path.
"I was born in Kingston and moved to Spanish Town, where I grew up. After leaving Spanish Town Primary School, I went to the nearby high school, and that's where the entertainment thing started," Cashtro said.
While in high school, he would entertain his peers at concerts and was applauded for being talented. He was inspired to start writing lyrics for others, as well as for himself. The entertainer said that he mostly writes from everyday experiences.
"I am glad that I was able to write this tune and have it recorded on Kappah Records," he said.
He added that his five-year plan is to do positive music and have a Grammy Award.
