Gospel artiste Duane Besentie, better known as Chozenn, journeyed to Alexandria, St Ann, last Thursday just to support his sister, Kaynaha Sewell, as she graduated from the Alexandria College of Continuing Education.

Sewell, one of two valedictorians for the ceremony, sat mathematics and English in the City and Guilds examination and got both subjects with distinction. She is now set to continue on her journey to become a registered nurse.

Sewell was one of 80 students who graduated on the day.

Chozenn not only attended the function, but spent some time performing on stage, much to the delight of an appreciative audience.

"He's my brother and I invited him to my graduation," Sewell later told THE STAR.

"It was a trap!" Chozenn laughed, implying she invited him just so he could perform for free. "But all for the glory of God and His word to be heard," he added.

SUPPORTIVE

Chozenn, who earlier this year released videos for his tracks, Jesus Rock and Freshest, and is known also for several controversial recordings, was delighted to be at the event to support his sister.

"I'm ecstatic," he began. "Happiness is based on happenings, so I'm beyond happy, I'm joyful."

He added: "It's really emotional for me because I know the real work that she put in, a lot of sleepless nights. And brutal honesty, she's an overcomer, she's a fighter. Very emotional one but she's a real good girl, you know, and I wish her nothing but the best and I love her dearly," Chozenn said.

The Alexandria College is the former Armadale Girls' Home which was destroyed by fire several years ago. Some of the disciplines offered at the facility include beauty therapy, allied health, guided tours, cake baking, landscaping, and electrical installation, along with the High School Diploma Equivalent (HSDE) programme.

Sewell was glad that her brother accepted the invitation to be there for her big moment, him having been quite supportive throughout.

"I am grateful," Sewell said about Chozenn being at the graduation. "You see my brother, he's always, always supportive," she explained.

"Sometimes when I feel like, 'Lord jeezam, this too much now,' him say, 'Sis you can do it; jus continue, jus push'. And see, today I'm here graduating with distinctions. I am overwhelmed and I am always grateful for his support. He's very, very supportive."
