Reggae artiste Determine, also known as Meshak, said he is fed up with Jamaica's spiralling crime rate and is imploring Jamaicans to unite in the fight against violence.

THE STAR caught up with the entertainer in New York recently, and he stated that he is filled with emotions each time he is informed of another killing in the land of his birth.

"Jamaica, just look into yourself; the leaders and civilians and everyone, let us remember da summen deh name love. Things are getting out of hand, so make we protect each other and just know say the word is love. We can't be killing off each other like that. Let's unite, man, because the bloodshed cannot be it," he said.

According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, between January 1 and June 30, 655 persons have been murdered in Jamaica.

Determine, who is known for a string of inspirational and uplifting reggae/dancehall tracks, continues to lobby against violence through his music. The entertainer said he is getting ready to release several productions, including an album.

"My album is right around the corner, and I have a mixtape and an EP to drop. I also have a couple of shows coming up. The album is going to be nice. I am already doing a lot of promotion on it and I have put out a song name Rasta Rise Again, and that is already doing well," he said.
