Delly Ranx eager to make Rebel Salute debut - Chimes in on current state of dancehall

As he prepares to grace the Rebel Salute stage for the first time, dancehall veteran Delroy 'Delly Ranx' Foster underscored the importance of unity in the entertainment industry.

"I am looking forward to seeing every artiste on [Rebel Salute], because all a di artiste dem a me co-worker, and a time fi wi unite together and appreciate each other and support each other," he told THE STAR.

Commenting on recent clashes in the industry, the entertainer was brief, but said that maturity was inevitable for all players in entertainment.

"Dem a do dem ting, enuh, bredda. If dem nuh realise dem affi grow up, one day they will," he said. The 30th staging of the event will be held this Friday and Saturday at Plantation Cove in St Ann. The Headache deejay gave THE STAR some insight into who he is most excited to see perform this weekend.

Delly Ranx first got his 'buss' in the entertainment space way back in the late 1990s with hit singles like, No Gal No More Than You. He has since worked with some of the biggest names in the industry including Elephant Man, Gramps Morgan and Buju Banton. For someone like him, who has been around for such a long time, Rebel Salute represents the pinnacle of both reggae and dancehall music.

"Rebel Salute a di highest you can get for me; it is the heights of reggae music and it set the standard. But, it also represent the standard for dancehall too. So a jus we fi touch the stage and show everyone where dancehall stand in the mix."

Delly Ranx is set to perform on night two of the highly anticipated show, alongside the likes of Yellowman, Sean Paul, Queen Ifrica, Capleton, Louie Culture, Linval Thompson, Fantan Mojah and Peter Metro. Night one will see performances from acts such as Third World, Anthony B, Richie Stephens, Sanchez, Mikey Spice and Glenn Washington.
