Shaniqwa Clarke delivers ‘Fire’
Gospel singer Shaniqwa Clarke has had a lifelong affinity with singing and serving the Lord.
"My relationship with the Almighty began at a very tender age. I grew up in a home where my mom was always praying, fasting and trusting God for absolutely everything. Each morning, my siblings and I had to gather with her for devotion. During devotion, she would randomly ask each of us to read from the Bible and share our understanding of the scriptures that we read, before we prayed," she said.
"As I grew up, my love for worshipping continued to grow and I gave my life to Christ at the age of eight. I also began singing in church when I was a child. That's where it all began for me where singing is concerned," she added.
The mild-mannered singer, who grew up in the Seven Miles area of Bull Bay in St Andrew, is currently promoting her debut single, titled Fire. The song, which was written by her brother Fabian, was produced and released by Rippaz Entertainment in September.
"I've been singing all my life, performing at rallies, weddings, funerals and concerts. However, I never really thought about having a recording career until my brother suggested that I record this song," said Clarke. Since its release, the song has been receiving strong rotation, both locally and overseas.
"I'm very pleased with the response that my single is receiving. It's getting a lot of airplay in various parts of the world, including Jamaica, Africa, the US and the UK. I'm truly grateful to my management team for all the hard work that they've been doing to promote my career. I'm also grateful to all the DJs and radio personalities who are supporting my single," she said.
