Serani makes global moves
Dancehall artiste and producer Serani has been noticeably absent from the Jamaican music scene in recent years.
However, the No Games singer has assured fans that he has not been idle, but is focusing on expanding his musical footprint beyond the Caribbean and into international markets. Serani, who recently released a new single titled Do Not Disturb, with fast-rising dancehall artiste Jinyus, explained that while his presence on local stages has dwindled, his creative energy has been channelled into producing music with a global appeal. He added that his strategic move is paying off, as he continues to craft tracks that resonate with listeners from diverse cultural backgrounds.
"As a musician, I can say there's never been a hiatus. I've always been working on music - songs and skills that you all will hear. If you don't hear me for a while, it simply means I'm working on something big. Music is my passion, so I don't need to release music to stay popular. When I release it must mean this is my Mona Lisa," he said.
"I met Jinyus in the streets doing the behind the scenes groundwork you all never see. I've always looked for young talent and he performed at my event in Brooklyn last year and represented himself well. He showed star potential, so it was an easy decision to share a record with such a budding talent," he added.
Jinyus told THE STAR that the collaboration happened after his friend Stubborn God, who has been doing work with Serani, made the link.
"Serani started this song and Stubborn heard it and he is aware that I am working on my album, so he told Serani that Jinyus would be a special addition to this. Stubborn bring it to me and we discuss wah we a discuss and I asked if I could get it for my project, and they said yes. It was a collective effort between me, Serani and Stubborn," he explained.
