Beyond ‘Grateful’ - Fans endure rains to celebrate 25 years with Agent Sasco
Dancehall veteran Agent Sasco delivered an unforgettable, emotion-filled performance on Sunday night at the inaugural staging of 'Grateful' at The UWI Mona Bowl, St Andrew.
The night was as much a celebration of his 25-year music career as it was a tribute to his late mother, whose teachings he credited for shaping the man he is today.
Despite rainy condition, the artiste, whose give name is Jeffrey Campbell, held back tears as he reflected on his journey and his mother's influence. Swelling with emotion, Sasco introduced gospel music icon Glacia Robinson, his mother's favourite artiste, for a powerful duet that brought the audience to their feet.
"A true unuh nuh know me practise fi nuh come up yah and bawl. But mi have one story fi tell unuh..." Sasco said, his voice cracking, setting the stage for an unforgettable moment.
Robinson, known for her inspiring hits, delivered an inspirational set, which included M ama Prayed, a song that resonated deeply with the audience.
Beyond the emotional tribute, the event celebrated Sasco's monumental contribution to music over the past two and a half decades. The show also featured a line-up of heavy-hitters from dancehall and reggae, such as Romain Virgo, Spragga Benz, Tanya Stephens, and Bounty Killer. Agent Sasco's daughter, LC, also made a cameo appearance.
Agent Sasco, visibly moved by the audience's dedication, expressed his deep appreciation.
"Inna me 25 years me never see dis yet. Fi stan' up in di rain, umbrella in hand and still singing, I am beyond grateful," he told the audience, whose cheers echoed through the night.
He later wrote on Instagram: "It was nothing short of a miracle last night. I have a new understanding of love and gratitude to see all standing in the rain. I have more than fair weather fans. #GiveThanks."
