Wanted man charged with allegedly striking cop in the face
A 33-year-old farmer from Clarendon who is wanted by the police for a previous incident, is in custody for allegedly hitting a lawman in the face.
Andrew Wilkinson of Bryan's Land, Spaulding, Clarendon is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault at common law.
The Spaulding police say that about 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, lawmen were patrolling the area when they saw Wilkinson.
The cops approached him and attempted to place him under arrest.
Wilkinson resisted and proceeded to allegedly hit one officer in his face causing bruising and swelling.
He then reportedly pulled a weapon and advanced towards the officers in a threatening manner.
He was shot during the altercation and taken to the hospital where he was treated and released into police custody.
He was subsequently arrested and charged.
A court date for him is being arranged.
