Corporate Hands| International Coastal Clean-Up Day a success
International Coastal Clean-up Day (ICC) 2015, has been lauded a tremendous success by beverage manufacturer Pepsi-Cola Jamaica.
The annual event which is spearheaded by the Jamaica Environment Trust and the Tourism Enhancement Fund, was held on September 19 at more than 120 beaches across the island.
"It is important for Pepsi-Cola Jamaica to support initiatives which involve protecting and beautifying the local coastline. The presence of pollutants and debris diminishes the beauty of the coasts and beaches and threaten local wildlife in the region," said Elizabeth Swaby, brand manager at Pepsi-Cola Jamaica. "Plastic products are one the largest pollutants along these coastlines and as one of the leading utilisers of plastic bottles, we feel a responsibility to assist with the effort at the annual event."
The beverage manufacturer led a team of executives, staff members and volunteers at the registered Kingston site at Fort Rocky, Port Royal. "The turnout of volunteers was very encouraging and the support we can agree was well received," concluded Swaby.
