Never too old to serve God! - Senior accepts the Lord in water baptism
Elfreda Cameron is a senior citizen who, like many, realised persons cannot be too old to surrender their lives to God before He calls them home.
Well, such was the case when she decided to be baptised at the Sanguinetti New Testament Church of God in Clarendon on Sunday, January 24.
In front of a full congregation on a chilly afternoon, Cameron was baptised by Bishop Donald Dawson and Officer Glendon McDonald, as she did what Jesus Christ requires of us, to repent and be baptised for the remission of our sins.
Giving her testimony before being asked by Bishop Dawson to enter the pool, Cameron, who had very few words, testified that she was a new person, who has been praying for the Lord to forgive her and to change her to her new status.
In his prayer for her before was baptised, Bishop Dawson called on the Holy Spirit to touch her heart, mind and spirit, and to strengthen her as she walks on her Christian journey with Him (Christ).
touch her heart
"Father we understand that whosoever call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, and so Father as she comes today we ask you to touch her heart and allow the 'Holy Spirit to minister to the inner man. We dedicate her to your glory, and we ask you to cut loose everything that is to be cut loose," prayed Bishop Dawson.
ANGELSASSIGNED
The pastor also called on God to cover her while she travels the long distance from her home to church, and that angels will be assigned to protect her and to encourage her after being baptised.
He begged God to allow angels to guide and direct her so that she will continue to be faithful to Him in all things.
Cameron was the first person to be baptised at the church since the start of the year.
