The sunny morning of Saturday, January 30, 2016, will long be remembered by Dione Francis and Richard Mayne.

It was the day that they stood before marriage officer the Reverend Calice Thompson and a small gathering of specially invited guests at Trout Hall in Clarendon to exchange marriage vows and wedding bands and to take on the title of Mr and Mrs Mayne.

Dressed in a traditional wedding gown, Dione was placed in the hands of Richard at approximately 11:07 a.m. by her lifelong friend, Dr Kevin Lee, after Mayne had waited for half an hour for his bride. By 11:15 a.m., Richard and Dione had completed their 'I do's'.

Thompson told the two, after they had completed saying their marriage vows, that they were embarking on a new journey as they started a new home. She stressed that they should keep the compass of their life by walking in the light, which is to walk with Jesus.

PUT THE WORK IN

"You will have to work on your marriage. A marriage without Jesus is useless. Whenever you feel like you want to quit, just kneel and commit yourselves to Christ," instructed Thompson.

Mayne was advised by Thompson that the moment the give-away father presented the hand of his bride to him, he took full responsibility for her, and so when he took Dione's hand, and stated that he took her to be his lawfully wedded wife, the union was sealed.

The newlyweds had their wedding rings blessed by Thompson and Lee after they listened to the pastor's instructions.

Based on the feedback from the specially invited guests, it was a pleasure witnessing the exchange of rings.

Following the announcement by Thompson that they were now man and wife, Mayne was asked to kiss his bride in public for the first time. This brought loud and thunderous-like applause from an appreciative audience. They then signed the marriage register in the presence of the marriage

officer and two witnesses.

The newlyweds and members of the bridal party then travelled to Knox College for their picture-taking moments and then to their reception at the Maynes' residence.
