Sometimes God is 'cruel' to be kind!
God will always make a way for His people. Panseta Simon of the Full Truth Church of God Deliverance Centre at Shortwood Road in Kingston can identify with this statement.
Simon has been walking with God from age nine. Now 62, she is a member of the executive board of that church, a Sunday school teacher, new converts teacher, and a member of the choir.
She testified that a few years ago she was working but experiencing financial challenges, resulting in her mortgage not being paid for five successive months. "The place where I was working decided that my position was to be given to another worker who was a member of their church, because I was working at a church school. I was not perturbed, but was a little concerned that already my mortgage was in arrears, and then it seemed as though I was about to lose my job. However, I trust in God and did not allow it to faze me," said Simon.
MEETINGS ATTENDED
She shared that she attended a number of meetings with the school board and a decision was taken that her position was to be given to another member of staff. Simon realised that there was nothing she could have done, since her colleague was a member of the church which operated the school.
"I decided to accept what they suggested and came to the point where I had to hand over all the keys for the place, and worked with the lady to show her what I was doing. This was in 1999. I handed over to her and went home," said the churchwoman.
The woman of God noted that a few days after she had left her job the mortgage company called and told her the mortgage was five months in arrears, and if she failed to come in for a discussion, then the information was going to be handed over to the company's lawyers.
"At that point, I spoke to God and said, Lord, I don't mind what you are doing, because I know that my life is in your hands; and even if you want me to live under a tree it is okay with me," testified Simon.
She shared that the day the mortgage company called her, immediately after she hung up she received a call from the school where she had been working. She was informed that a cheque owed to her was ready and that she could come in and pick it up.
"I immediately got dressed and went to the school, collected the cheque, and then proceeded to the mortgage company, wrote a cheque and gave them for the five months' arrears, and then I looked to God. That was a profound miracle in my life," testified Simon.
She realised that God allowed her to lose her job so that she could clear her mortgage; so that she could still have her house today.
"To God be the glory. Sometimes it seems as if what God is doing is cruel, but sometimes God has to be cruel to be kind. If I did not lose the job at that point, I would not have been able to pay five months' mortgage, which was quite a tidy sum of money. I raise my hand to God and glorify His name. He has been excellent to me," testified Simon.
