• Centenarian reveals her secret to long life

At 102 years old, Testina Williams still has all her faculties intact. She does not take medication, can recites her favourite Bible verses and sings her favourite songs.

Born at Lucky Hill, St Mary, April 8, 1914, Williams, whose mother lived to be 105, and grandmother, 109, told THE STAR's Life and Times her longevity is due to honesty, loving people, eating early, going to bed early and waking up early.

When she was 100, Williams could read the Bible without having to use reading glasses.

The centenarian, who resides at Spring Ground, Manchester, said growing up and adulthood was difficult for her. To help herself financially, Williams did farming and dressmaking to take care of her family.

Reflecting on her childhood days, she said going to Sunday school and reciting Bible verses were wonderful. Reciting poems was also part of the mix.

The centenarian said she missed the good old days when children were loving and respectful, as well as when persons would share whatever they had with each other.

Williams still has a healthy appetite. She enjoys eating fruits and vegetables, as well as ground provision. However, she eats very little meat and enjoys 'run dung'.

Her favourite songs include It Pays To Serve Jesus, O To Be Like Thee and He Brought Me Out.

The centenarian lost her husband when he was 80. She gave birth to 13 children. She continues to thank God for her long life and said she will never cease to praise Him for all His benefits towards her and family.
