I have been gone for a few weeks but not without good reason. The journey I want to talk about today is not about any one particular place on the island, instead I want to share my journey on a cruise that can be described only as life changing.

The Welcome To Jamrock Cruise is the brainchild of Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley, a cruise created to bring reggae fans worldwide together, to experience a crash course of true reggae culture within a five-day period. Now, to some of you this may seem a bit far-fetched, but if you ever have the privilege to be onboard WTJRC you will understand this young legend has done just that.

As you board the ship reggae music greets you through the intercom, smiling strangers with accents from all over the world greet each other excited for the experience that is about to unfold. The cruise was launched last year and this year many cruise goers were returning for the experience while others clearly were in awe of all the celebrities walking around, taking selfies, greeting patrons and sharing in a mutual love for the reggae culture. This is just how it begins, what the new cruisers don't yet know is that this is more than just a cruise, this is an experience of a lifetime.

Imagine every day for five days you are entertained by some of the biggest DJs in the business Metro Media, Black Scorpio, DJ Norie, ZJ Liquid, Foota Hype, King Jammy, Renaissance, Mighty Crown, Shinehead, Bass Odyssey, Robbo Ranx, Stone Love, myself and many more. Imagine for every night you are entertained by some of the biggest acts in the business, Jr Gong, Stephen Marley, Bounty Killer, Jah Cure, Super Cat, Barrington Levy, Tanya Stephens, TOK, Elephant Man, Morgan Heritage, Maxi Priest, Capleton and this is just some of the line-up. Full band performances from acts some of these patrons can only dream of seeing live, now they get to see their favourite performers in one of the most intimate ways possible.

So many special moments that you can't experience anywhere else; like the moment the beautiful Cindy Breakspeare gave an impromptu performance with veteran performer Shinehead or how about when actor Malik Yoba from Empire and many other popular shows came on stage and sang Change Gone Come. I can write about these special moments for pages but unfortunately I only have this one page to let you know about this experience of a lifetime. This cruise reminds everyone involved how powerful reggae music is, how healing, young, old, rich, poor, black or white, none of these things mattered onboard. The only things that you could feel throughout the entire ship was love, joy, happiness, excitement, energy and most of all unity.
