Police hunt cabbie killer
The St James police are now on the hunt for a man who escaped custody after he was arrested for carjacking and killing a taxi operator in the parish yesterday.
The taxi driver has been identified as 62-year-old Kenneth Taylor of a Glendevon address in St James.
Reports are that shortly after 6 a.m. yesterday, two men shot and killed Taylor then dragged him from his vehicle and attempted to drive away.
An off-duty police officer, who was in the vicinity of the incident, shot one of the men. He was taken to hospital where he is now under police guard.
The other man was taken to the Coral Gardens Police Station.
It is reported that while at the lock-up, the man managed to escape after he went to use the bathroom.
The Coral Gardens police are still hunting for the escapee.
