A father and son accused of possessing uncustomed goods and a quantity of ganja were granted bail and discharged, respectively, when they appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.

Charged with possession of uncustomed goods and sale of ganja on a premises are Charles Beckford and Oshane Beckford. They pleaded guilty and not guilty, respectively.

Allegations are that on September 29, both men were found with a quantity of uncustomed cigarettes, as well as a quantity of ganja at the premises where they reside.

In court, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey probed the matter.

"Are they your cigarettes and ganja?," she asked.

Charles confirmed that the items were his, and said his son Oshane was not guilty of any of the allegations made against him.

"Your Honour, is half a pound of ganja I did have at the time," he said.

Subsequently, a no order was made against Oshane by the sitting magistrate, while Charles had his bail extended. He is to reappear in court on November 24.
