Woman gets bail for murder

October 28, 2015

One of two siblings held in relation to a murder was granted bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Friday. Bail was set at $300,000. Charged with murder is Kadian Smith. She pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The court was told that on October 10, family members who attempted to quash a dispute locked the accused into a room.

The court was told, however, that the co-accused, the brother of Smith, entered the room with a knife and gave it to her.

The co-accused allegedly gave her instructions on how to use it. Allegations are that the now deceased was making her way to the bus stop when Smith and her brother went in chase of her.

Reports are that the now deceased allegedly pulled a bottle containing a substance.

The knife that was reportedly handed to Smith was returned to her co-accused, who is now on the run. It was allegedly used to stab the now deceased.

The postmortem report was outstanding. Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey gave Smith bail with one surety. A fingerprint order was also made and a stop order put in place.
