Dad suspected of murder found dead

The father who is a person of interest in the murder of a Jamaican teen was found dead by Canadian investigators last week.

Investigators had been unable to locate Paul Reid after his daughter's demise, THE STAR understands.

According to www.thestar.com, nearly two weeks after the body of 18-year-old Simone 'Shanni' Reid was discovered inside her Scarborough apartment, her 49-year-old father was found dead.

Simone's body was found on November 13, and cops theorised her father was likely among the last to see her alive.

Simone's death has been ruled a homicide, however, investigators still do not have enough information to say what role, if any, her father played in her death.

It has not been revealed how Simone died, though investigators say her body showed obvious signs of trauma.

Police have also not yet determined Paul's cause of death, and are awaiting test results from the pathologist.

Toronto police discovered his body last week in his blue Toyota Sienna minivan.

Reports are that investigators immediately contacted Simone's mother, Karlene Palmer, who was in Jamaica at the time and told her of Paul's death.

According to the reports, Palmer's response was; "I feel sad because I need some answers, and he was the only person who could give me some answer. He could have shed some light on what happened to his daughter, but unfortunately the outcome is just very grim."

Simone was a first-year student at Centennial College, enrolled in the police foundations course. She had aspirations of becoming a police officer.

Loved ones have described Simone as a jovial, outgoing and ambitious young woman. She would have turned 19 last week.
