Man accused of embezzment returns to court on December 18

A man accused of embezzling funds from his former employer had his bail extended when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.

Charged with two counts of obtaining goods by means of false pretence and embezzlement is Nicholas Williams of White Water Meadows in St Catherine

Allegations are, between February and August 2015, the accused was employed to a company. It is alleged he falsely pretended to have a legitimate purchase order. As a result, it is said he received products to deliver to seven customers.

When contracted, however, these customers reported that they had never ordered or received the goods.

Subsequently, on one occasion, the accused man received money in his capacity as a sales representative, on behalf of the company. The court heard that he put the money to his own use and benefit.

It was also further heard that Williams got several products for the company but never delivered them to the organisation. It is reported a total of $389,970.45 was misappropriated.

In court, Williams had his bail extended by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey. He was ordered to return to court on December 18.
