Islamic Council comdemns Paris killings

The official governing body of the Islamic movement in Jamaica, the Islamic Council of Jamaica (ICOJ), has condemned the acts of violence, which occurred in Paris on Friday leaving over 100 people dead and several others injured.

In a press release, the umbrella organisation for all Muslim communities in Jamaica chided those responsible for the "savage and despicable attacks on civilians".

The ICOJ expressed that there is simply no justification for such barbaric incidents and hopes that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice.

The organisation concluded by offering condolences to the loved ones of those killed and injured in France.

The statement comes on the heels of a state of emergency declared in France over the weekend following the mass killings.

France has since launched air strikes on the Islamic State group's de-facto capital in Syria, destroying a jihadi training camp and a munitions dump in Al-Raqqah.
