Jamaican convicted for drugs in Barbados
A Jamaican national was recently
convicted on drug charges following her appearance in the Oistins Magistrates Court in Barbados.
Charged with possession with intent to supply; trafficking; and importation of 4.4 pounds of cannabis is 43-year-old Donnarie Hibbert. She pleaded guilty to the offences.
According to Barbados Today, Hibbert, who arrived by air from Jamaica, was held after a police dog raised an alarm about her luggage.
Following checks by Customs airport officials, it was discovered that four packages containing the illegal drugs were stashed away inside her luggage.
She was subsequently arrested and charged by Barbadian authorities.
She was ordered to pay a fine of B$50,000 (roughly J$2.9 million) forthwith or spend the next two years in prison in the country.
