J Capri's death trends worldwide

Dancehall artiste J Capri was one of the top trending names in the world yesterday on social media as news broke of her passing.

Several fans and recording artistes across the world tweeted comforting words to her grieving family.

The singer was hospitalised two weeks ago after being involved in a car accident along Barbican Road in Kingston on November 23.

She was placed in a coma shortly afterwards, as family members appealed to the dancehall community and members of the public to donate blood on behalf of the dancehall rising star.

J Capri would have celebrated her 24th birthday on December 24.

Following her death several recording artistes expressed their sadness on social media.

Lady Saw posted "My heart is saddened .. I met her in July at Hype TV and she was bubbly so full of life and into character before she went on to perform ... My heart goes out to her family and friends #R.I.P J Capri."

Meanwhile, dancehall artiste, Charly Black with whom she did one of her hit songs, Whine and Kotch, refused to believe the sad news. "I won't accept this news right now ok," he wrote.

There were also stories of her death carried on popular entertainment stations and programmes worldwide. United States based entertainment station, BET, hailed Phillips on its website as one of Reggae's best in an article.

Another popular American based website, Bossip, also posted on their website about the death of the singjay.

Fans worldwide expressed sadness and chose to celebrate her life and music by posting Phillips' music videos and her photographs.

"I can't believe, so young, a star in explosion leaves us, #RIPJCapri," tweeted one of the artiste's French fans who also posted several of her songs.

A fan from Switzerland who posted a video dancing to Phillips' Wine and Kotch said, "At the age of 23 and a rising star, you were taken from us #RIPJCapri."

J'Capri and #RIPJCapri both trended worldwide on Twitter for several hours with over fifteen thousand tweets being generated about the singjay's death.
