Students injured in bus crash
The Clarendon police might charge the driver of an overloaded minibus, which crashed while transporting students yesterday morning.
The early morning accident along the Foga main road in the parish sent scores of students of the Garvey Maceo High School to the May Pen Hospital's Accident and Emergency Unit.
Police said the Toyota Hiace minibus, laden with students, was heading to the school just after 9 a.m., when, on reaching the York Town and Foga Road intersection, collided with a motor car heading in the opposite direction.
"Two of the students are now admitted at the May Pen Hospital, while others are now been treated by the school nurse," a policeman from the May Pen Traffic Department told THE STAR. The driver of the bus was also injured in the accident.
This latest accident in the parish comes amid growing concerns that since the launch of the safe school initiative a couple of months ago, indiscipline has again crept back into the system ... endangering the lives of students.
