Man executed in front of terrified wife
A farmer was shot and killed execution style in the presence of his wife by unknown assailants in at his home in Orange Hill, Westmoreland early Tuesday morning.
The police are yet to make a breakthrough in the incident.
The dead man has been identified as 54-year-old Gifford Hall. He was killed at approximately 12:30 a.m. when two armed assailant broke into his house.
Reports from the police's Corporate Communications Unit are that Hall was at home with his common law wife when they heard knocking on the door. The couple refused to open the door, but that did not stop the two armed assailants.
They proceeded to remove a number of louvres from the widows, gaining entry into the house. The men robbed the couple of a number of items, including jewelry, cell phones and money.
One of the men then shot Hall in his head, then fled the scene with his accomplice. Hall died on the spot, but his common law wife was left unharmed.
The police theorise that robbery might have been the motive for the killing, however investigations are ongoing. No one has been arrested in relation to Hall's death.
