Skeng Don's daughter is new PNPYO president

The daughter of People's National Party (PNP) activist, Kenneth 'Skeng Don' Black has been appointed acting president of the People's National Party Youth Organization.

Connoly Black, who is a final year student in the Faculty of Law at the University of the West Indies, Mona, will act as president until July of this year. Black was ratified as the acting president at the PNPYO's National Council on Saturday.

"What I plan to do is some amount of house cleaning," Black said while adding that she will focus on "getting our structures more active, reaching out to our members to get them feeling more energise before we go into recruiting."

Rebranding

Black said that she has realised that a lot people feel like they can't relate to the PNPYO and it is imperative that this problem is rectified in order for the group to move forward.

"We want to rebrand the YO - to give it a more youthful look, a progressive look, a more attractive look and change that perception that people have of the PNPYO," Black added.

Black told THE STAR that she wants to be judged based on what she does as president and not any misconception people may have of her father.

"He will always be my father and he has always been supportive of all my endeavours. I started my political journey of because of his influence," she said.
