Excited Shelly announces pregnancy - Fraser-Pryce’s mother will be a strict grandmother

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce's mother, Maxine Simpson, yesterday expressed joy that the track star is expecting a baby.

"It's all good! Mi happy!" Simpson told THE STAR yesterday.

The 30-year-old, two-time Olympic gold-medal winner, Fraser-Pryce shared the news on her Instagram page yesterday with a picture captioned, "New Chapter awaits, Hello Motherhood!!! See you soon," followed by a baby emoji and #Motherhood2017.

Her mother, who will be 51 on Saturday, said that she is looking forward to her grandbaby from Fraser-Pryce.

The 'Pocket Rocket's' baby will be Simpson's fourth grandchild. She said her two sons, Omar and Andrew, have already given her three granddaughters. When asked if she was hoping for a grandson this time around, she said, "Anything that comes. A the Lord that. You can't tell the Lord what to do."

NO-NONSENSE

She declared that she was a no-nonsense grandmother who wants all her grand-babies to do well in all their endeavours.

"I'm strict because me want the best for them," she shared.

Fraser-Pryce is married to long-time boyfriend Jason Pryce.

Meanwhile, Fraser-Pryce says that she intends to return to track and field after she gives birth later this year.

"All my focus heading into training for my 2017 season was on getting healthy and putting myself in the best possible fitness to successfully defend my title in London2017. But life is filled with many blessings with God. So here I am thinking about being the greatest mother I can be with my biggest blessing and the promise God made me," she said on Facebook.

Fraser-Pryce, who won back-to-back gold medals in the 100m at the 2009, 201,3 and 2015 World Championships, with a 200m podium topper also forming part of a tasty triple gold medal treat in 2013, will miss the summer's instalment in London.

"Thank you, fans for your overwhelming support since my announcement," Fraser-Pryce later posted on Facebook.
