In the blink of an eye, a person's life can change from being stable to being in shambles.

That was the case for 31-year-old Simone Williams, who was rushing out of her home one morning and fell down three flights of stairs.

At first, the pain was no bother as she quickly picked herself up and went her way.

As time progressed, she realised that she was feeling pains in her groin and spine that were becoming more intense.

She did not link her pains to her fall as she did not believe that it was very serious. However, a trip to the doctor proved otherwise.

Her mother, Sarah Mighty, told THE STAR that her daughter was admitted to the hospital when they noticed that she had started limping because of the pain.

She said that since the incident seven years ago, nothing much has changed because her daughter is still limping and complaining of feeling pains.

"After she fall, nail did run up in her foot, and she go hospital. She did even a do physiotherapy because a the limp, but it never help her," she said.

Williams said that after many attempts at getting better at the University Hospital of the West Indies, she asked for a referral to the Kingston Public Hospital where she got more bad news.

"Doctors say that my leg is infected and there are some damages to my spinal cord. They gave me a paper to do blood test and a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). I did the blood test, but I am having difficulty paying for the MRI," she said.

The mother of two said that since the incident, she has been trying to get a job but has been denied at every turn.

She said that this limits her ability to take care of her family and even pay for her medical expenses.

She told THE STAR that the pain is getting worse, and it is becoming harder for her to walk each day.

She is therefore asking for the public's assistance to pay for the MRI, which costs J$55,000.
