Everton Dacres, one of the victims in yesterday's fire in the Bell Rock community, said that apart from losing his home and shop, an undetermined sum of money that was being kept safe has gone up in smoke.

Information reaching THE STAR is that several persons who occupied the premises lost thousands of dollars during the blaze. Dacres was just one of the many victims

"Mi nuh want tell no lie pon miself, but fi tell the honest truth, mi have a 40 pack ($40,000) inna paper and bout $15,000 or more inna $20 coins. Mi have me shop with rum and dem thing deh, and me is a fisherman. A nuh nuh joke thing mi a tell yuh," the fisherman said.

Dacres told THE STAR that he was at sea when he got the disturbing phone call that the place was on fire.

Talks of money missing or burnt money quickly spread among the residents, some of whom wasted no time in digging through the rubble.

Andrew McLean, otherwise called 'Peter' and 'Killa', was murdered when armed thugs invaded the community, opened fire on him, and set fire his home on fire.
