JDF to spend $3.7 billion on aircraft

Months after a Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) helicopter was damaged in a crash, the army is set to shell out J$3.7 billion to purchase an aircraft.

The purchase is among $20.4 billion in major spending set to be undertaken by the National Security Ministry in the 2019/2020 fiscal year.

In addition to purchasing the aircraft, the JDF is slated to buy $932 million worth of fleet vehicles and $3.5 billion on a vessel for the coast guards.

The police force is set to buy $1 billion worth of vehicles and the Department of Correctional Services has been allocated $64 million to spend on transportation.
