15-y-o patient allegedly raped by docTOR

A St Catherine woman is demanding justice for her 15-year-old daughter, who she says was sexually assaulted by a doctor at his office last month.

The mother is also disgruntled with the pace of the investigation so far, and is pressing for more work to be done by the cops.

The incident allegedly occurred on August 27.

THE WEEKEND STAR was informed that about 9:45 p.m., the girl was taken to the doctor for a medical procedure.

The doctor allegedly sexually assaulted her inside his office. The mother said that she reported the matter to the police later that night.

After that, the teenager was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital for a medical examination. A rape kit was done and an investigation was launched.

Needing counselling

"We went back to the police station and statements were recorded and we were told he would be arrested the following day; we have yet to see anything," the mother said. "I have to report the matter to the Inspectorate of Constabulary, as I wasn't pleased with the investigation by the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse."

The disgruntled mother said the incident has affected her daughter badly, resulting in her needing counselling. The mother is adamant that the doctor needs to be arrested.

"I am not satisfied with how the police are working the case as I was told that he would have been held already and he is still working," she said.

When THE WEEKEND STAR contacted the police station, they confirmed receiving a report and said that the matter is under investigation.

Our queries were directed to the superintendent in charge. Several calls to the number given for him rang without an answer.

"Dem (investigators) tell me to come back there again, but I am fed up," the mother said.
