Not even the rain could put a damper on the seventh staging of the Lauriston 4-H Club Stew Festival, which was held on Friday at Brooklyn Park in Thompson Pen, St Catherine.

The well-attended affair saw several stewed dishes being served up, much to the delight of patrons. There was stewed June plum, stewed guava, stewed jackfruit, and stewed mango.

Conceptualiser of the festival Shian Christian said he was pleased with the day's activities.

Flexibility

"We are thankful for this festival in the community each year. We are able to showcase the flexibility of various products on display here, and it shows clearly that the area is abound with talent," Christian said.

Dr Ronald Blake, executive director of Jamaica 4-H Clubs, said the stew fest was good for the community.

"This festival is used as a conduit to engage the youth through the 4-H Club in a positive and productive manner. This club is our most vibrant in its fundraising efforts. This brings out the talents and helps to forge a partnership with our support group. We want continue to build commutes through outreach like this,'' Dr Blake said.
