An unidentified vendor in her early forties was murdered in downtown Kingston by unknown assailants yesterday evening, close to the busy intersection of Duke and East Queen streets.

According to a police source at the scene, the woman was believed to have been murdered around 6:30 p.m. as she, along with at least one of her children, pushed two trolleys filled with goods home.

"She was attacked by armed men. She sustained several gunshot wounds to the upper body. No one can identify the assailants, their mode of transport and a motive have not been determined. However, investigations continue," the source told THE STAR.
