Two killed in 24 hours in St Catherine

The St Catherine South police are keeping a close eye on Central Village, following two homicides in about 24 hours.

In the first incident, the partially buried body of Samuel McDonald was found after he was reported missing by relatives. The Central Village police reported that relatives reported that Samuels left home about 2 p.m. last Thursday to catch fish in the Rio Cobre. When he didn't return the following day, a search was launched and his body was found buried in sand on the river bank. The body had what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head.

Construction worker

Later on Friday, Princeroy Tyrell, 47, construction worker of Murdoch Avenue, Big Lane, was shot to death. Reports are that about 5 p.m., police were summoned to the area after explosions were heard. When they arrived, they found Tyrell suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the Spanish Town General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The news gathered that Tyrell was walking along the road when he was pounced upon by unknown assailants who fired shots hitting him repeatedly.

Investigations are ongoing in both matters.
