81 new cases, six more deaths

Jamaica on Monday recorded 81 new COVID-19 cases from 746 samples tested, increasing total confirmed cases to 87,667 with 29,120 being active.

The country's positivity rate is currently 20.3%.

Of the new cases, 38 are women and 43 are men with ages ranging from three months to 88 years.

Meanwhile, six more Jamaicans have died as a result of COVID-19, pushing the death tally to 2,123. 

The deaths which occurred between October 15 - 17 include three women from St Catherine, two aged 59 and 70 whose deaths were previously under investigation, and a 66-year-old. The other deceased are an 80-year-old man from Kingston and St Andrew, an 81-year-old woman from Clarendon and a 52-year-old man from St Thomas. 

In the meantime, there were 190 more recoveries, bringing that total to 55,827.

Some 361 persons are in hospital with 64 being moderately ill, 44 severley ill and 20 critically ill.
