Marheil 'Teeny' Bailey is pulling out every stop she can think of to get answers on the puzzling disappearance of her father, 90-year-old Milichai 'Son' Bailey of Salt Spring, St James, who has not been seen or heard from since December 31, 2022.

Speaking to THE STAR on Wednesday, Bailey outlined how she, her seven siblings, and other relatives have been worried sick over the disappearance of their father.

"Believe me, I cannot eat or sleep and I just feel miserable. I have not gone to work from it happened, and yesterday (Tuesday) is the first I went to work from it happened. My aunt feels it so bad, and my sisters too, and all of us are hunting for him and we are just panicked over it," said Bailey.

According to Bailey, who lives in Westmoreland, she last saw her father during a visit to the family home in Salt Spring on December 30. She said that at that time, her dad, who was dressed in a blue T-shirt, white and black shorts, and black slippers, indicated that he planned to go somewhere.

"I asked him where he was going, and he said if we tell him when we are going somewhere," Bailey explained. "He said he was going to go somewhere for a time, and we not to fret or worry when we don't see him, because he was going to come back." But he has not been seen since.

"My brother went there the Saturday (December 31) and brought something for him, and did not see him. He has family there who always take care of him when I am not there, like his sister and one cousin. But then my uncle came there the Sunday (January 1) and did not see him either," Bailey outlined.

"My father always goes out and always brings his bag with him, and he always locks his door. But this time he did not lock the door, and he did not bring a bag or anything with him, that's all I know," Bailey added. "He always has his phone, but he never really uses the phone as he never charges it."

Family members promptly conducted a search for the patriarch and spoke to persons who saw him on the day of his disappearance.

Bailey recalled that during the search, a resident told them that her father, who formerly worked as a farmer in Ironshore, said that he was going to that community.

"He went off to the bush in Salt Spring, leading to Ironshore. A guy bucked him up there, and he (Bailey) said 'I am going to check a guy in Ironshore, and I want to catch there before night'. That's what the guy told us," she recalled.

"He knows everywhere throughout Ironshore, as he used to have some grounds there that we used to go to when we were much smaller. But since he got 'ageable', he stopped going there," she said. "He used to have a friend down there, and whenever time he would go down there and don't see the friend, he would sleep down there, and later the friend would put him on a bus and give him fare."

The family eventually made a missing person's report at the Montego Hills Police Station. The police's Corporate Communication Unit confirmed to THE STAR that a report had been made concerning the disappearance. But while she waits for any word on her father's whereabouts, Bailey continues to fret about his well-being.

"I am up and down 24-7 hunting for him. I just cannot eat and I am really stressed out," she said. "I know he is jovial, so I don't think anybody would harm him like that. If anybody sees him, I want them please to contact me."
