Cheating married man implores men to be faithful - Businessman says DNA proved both children with side chick were ‘jacket’

Following a broken marriage, two 'jacket' children and a deceitful side chick, 'John' (not real name), a St Catherine businessman, said he is imploring men to be faithful to their wives and spouses as cheating oftentimes end in heartache.

"Women are always deceivers, no matter how you put it. Times hard so most women are going to try to be with two or three men because of cost of living. So married men or those in committed relationships just be faithful yah man and follow what the Bible says because it nuh worth it. See it deh, mi lose house, car and mi a guh through divorce now," he admitted.

"It was very stressful because mi have business to run, mortgage to pay and mi get two pickney a road weh turn out not to be mine. All a that a expense and heartache," he said.

The man, who is under 50, said he fell in love with his secretary months after she began working at his establishment and about a year later she told him she was pregnant. He told THE WEEKEND STAR that he was joyful as although he had been married for several years, he and his wife did not share any children.

"I was in a round robin also and she began attending the events with me and one thing led to another and the sex came into play. I maintained her throughout the pregnancy and still managed to take care of my wife at home," he said.

John said three days after the baby was born he garnered the courage and broke the news to his wife that not only did he have an extramarital affair, but he had fathered a child. He said she thought he was joking until he took the infant home to meet her.

"My wife accepted him and I would get my son every other weekend and bring him home," he related.

"My wife was understanding, but about six months after the baby born the girl tell mi say she pregnant again. My wife did kinda suspect say a my baby, but mi never admit until the little girl born and wifey accept the baby again," he said.

John said all this time he was playing the role of 'sideman' in his babymother's life, as when he met her she was involved with another married man.

In spite of her other affair, John never doubted that he was the father of her two children.

However, she began denying him visitation privileges and so he took her to family court.

"... The distance start chip in and mi nah get to see the children dem. Mi report her to CDA (Child Development Agency) and I told them I need a DNA because I wanted to take her to court for visitation rights. The DNA wasn't done to prove that the children weren't mine because I believed they were. I just wanted to see them," he added.

"When the DNA result come back mi start laugh because mi inna shock, mi couldn't believe enuh. Not just one a them, but both a them. The woman a talk bout she nuh believe the result and she don't trust the swabbing thing and all a talk about a must me make up with the DNA place and all of that," John said.

"Imagine mi a go through a divorce because a this because mi wife family start ask her if she a idiot and if she a guh make mi bring in more than two children on her," he continued. "So she left."

Continuing, he said: "Mi did have plans for mi children. The children were looking bright and mi did a look forward for the boy to come and take over mi business. Mi a say mi want him to be a doctor and so on. Mi bond with these children from them inside the belly and them is not mine," he said. "Sometimes mi go on mi phone and look at pictures of the children smiling and it breaks my heart."

Studies have suggested that close to 25 per cent of Jamaican males are currently recorded as the father of children that they did not produce biologically. In 2021, the matter sparked much controversy when St James Central Member of Parliament Heroy Clarke indicated his intention to bring to Parliament a motion calling for mandatory DNA paternity testing at birth.
