Prankster won’t run Beryllium joke

Popular YouTuber Kymani 'iheart_Mani' White may be a daredevil as it relates to pranks, but he is adamant that he would never try one on a Beryllium security guard in light of recent attacks on their colleagues.

"Trying to prank the Beryllium people is like a recipe for disaster. Jamaicans like to take somebody and make an example out of them, and probably a me a go get shot if mi go ramp with them. They are being robbed, so they are on edge; so I personally would not try that. I don't even think I am going to continue the robbery pranks or any other prank that could get me arrested," he said.

Following last week's shooting death of a man by a Beryllium guard, the company urged the public to refrain from mimicking the dangerous nature of cash-in-transit operations. Earlier this year, the Jamaica Constabulary Force also advised persons who were victims of pranksters to come forward and make a formal report to the Half-Way Tree police in St Andrew. The organisation voiced concern about a group of young men recording prank videos, in which they faked robbing individuals at ATMs and outside of banks.

"My thing now is to try not to let anyone think that they are in danger. I use to do those pranks because people like to watch them. I was up-and-coming, but now I have over 160,000 followers, so I don't have to do a lot right now. It's time to make the new pranksters get their shine because they want the fame and popularity. Mi nuh need to do it any more. Mi can just do the likkle fool-fool one dem, because mi done have the views already," White said.

He said that although his pranks are criticised by some, their views have caused him to reap big rewards.

"All of this drive comes from being broke. I am on my own from I am 17 years old. This has been my highest-paying job. I have never had a job paid high like YouTube. Mi use to broke, then I get some US dollars from YouTube and I realise I could do it. Jamaicans can be hypocritical sometimes. They will tell mi not to post stuff, and then watch it same way. I get paid every month and it's good pay. The pranks are dangerous, but dem pay good," he said.
