Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque was angered on Thursday after it was revealed that a defendant who has been in custody since July, has made no attempts to make restitution to his girlfriend, who lost four teeth during an assault.

"Something must give! Him caah a come with nothing at all and the woman a feel pain every day. The woman get a good mash up you know. The woman lost four teeth you know, her face disfigured you know. The woman has not been able to work since the incident you know. These things affect people on a granular level every single day!" the senior jurist argued.

Howard Slowly, a tradesman, assaulted the complainant, his ex-girlfriend, causing pain and swelling to her face. The court heard that the complainant lost four teeth and is seeking $500,000 compensation.

"This anuh likkle assault occasioning actual harm you know. This is supposed to go down to the big court (Supreme Court)," Cole-Montaque added.

Slowly's lawyer explained to the court that the defendant's father has fallen ill and the family is using the monies to care for him.

"I will give him more time but him not going home, him staying where him is," the judge said. Slowly was remanded in custody until February 21, 2024.
