Intruder takes over woman’s house
A man who is said to be a United States citizen was offered bail in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday, where he is facing allegations of breaking the locks of a woman's home and living there for almost two months.
Suwayne Brown is charged with housebreaking and larceny and trespassing. It is alleged that the complainant securely locked her house and was away from the premises between October 25 and December 6. Brown reportedly went to the premises, destroyed the locks, and started to occupy the house without lawful authority.
Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque granted Brown bail in the sum of $300,000, with at least two sureties, after the prosecutors indicated that they were not opposed to bail.
Brown, as a condition of his bail, is not to visit the complainant's home, must surrender his travel documents, and is to report to the police once weekly. A stop order was imposed and Brown is required to reside at a property - the address of which was shared in court. His belongings are to be removed from the complainant's house.
The matter was adjourned until April 2, 2024.
