Sisters arrested following gun, ammo seizure

Two sisters were arrested following the seizure of an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition in Longwood district, Clarendon on Wednesday, the police say.

They are 28-year-old bartender Shanel Francis and her sister, 25-year-old Shantel Francis. A taxi driver, 40-year-old Peter Cunningham, also known and 'Rando' was also arrested.

It is reported that a police team was conducting a spot check operation in the area when they noticed a grey Toyota Probox heading their direction but stopped and reverse.

The vehicle was intercepted, and subsequently searched. A glock pistol and about 40 rounds of ammunition were found on the floor.

The Francis trio were subsequently taken into custody pending further investigation.
