St Catherine man fined after car crash
Kevin Williams, a St Catherine man who crashed a Honda Civic motorcar he borrowed without permission, was fined $530,000 when he appeared in court on Tuesday.
He was fined $50,000 or 30 days for driving away motor vehicle without owners consent, $200,000 or six months for malicious destruction of property, $200,000 or six months (14 demerit points) for dangerous driving, $50,000 or 30 days plus (14 demerit points) for no driver's licence and $30,000 or 30 days for no insurance coverage.
It is reported that on December 31, 2023,Williams was given the vehicle to wash, which he decided to drive without the owner's permission.
He was spotted by police who cautioned him to stop, but he disobeyed. He eluded them but went on to crash the vehicle into a bus stop along Burke Road in Spanish Town.
He was arrested and subsequently charged.
