Man stabs babymother with screwdriver
A Corporate Area man's quest for bail was denied on Wednesday, as investigators said that they were not able to apprehend him for almost a year.
It was shared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court that sometime last April, the defendant, Tevin Robinson, used a screwdriver to stab the complainant, his child's mother, in her side, allegedly following an argument about the child's clothes.
"We went to his premises and he was not there. I called him and he said the only way me ago take him in custody, is if me take him in dead," the investigator related to Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque.
"Did you say that to the police? That them can only get you in custody if yuh dead?" the senior judge quizzed.
"No, Your Honour," Robinson responded.
Following the incident, Robinson reportedly attacked the complainant again.
Cole-Montaque argued that based on the seriousness of the offence, as well as Robinson being a flight risk and the likelihood of interference and absconding bail, he is not a fit and proper candidate for bail.
Robinson was made the subject of a fingerprint order and is to be sentenced on April 11.
